The default flash mode is Auto, which fires the flash as dictated by lighting conditions. Three other flash modes are controlled through an option in the Record menu, and include Red-Eye Reduction, Forced, and Slow Synchro. Red-Eye Reduction works in a similar manner to Auto, although the camera fires a small pre-flash before the main exposure to make your subjects' eyes contract, reducing the occurrence of Red-Eye. Forced flash mode means that the flash fires with every exposure, regardless of light level. For night or twilight exposures, the Slow Synchro flash mode fires the flash in conjunction with a slower shutter speed, allowing more ambient light into the picture to balance the flash exposure. A fifth flash mode, Suppressed, is accessed simply by returning the flash to its compartment, preventing the flash from firing at all. These numbers agreed well with my own testing, and if anything are a little on the conservative side. Continuous Shooting The F601 Zoom can capture as many as four consecutive frames in rapid succession, at intervals as fast as 0.2 seconds in the standard Continuous Shooting exposure mode. (This mode is accessed through the Continuous Shooting option of the Record menu, as opposed to the Scene Continuous Shooting mode). In my own testing, the minimum interval I measured between frames in Continuous mode was 0.24 seconds, not quite up to Fuji's stated spec. After the series is captured, a preview screen displays all four images at thumbnail size, letting you review the series and pick the images to be recorded or deleted. The camera may capture less than four consecutive shots if the SmartMedia card is out of memory space. Interval times may vary as well, depending on the image size and quality settings, and the amount of image information to record. The camera apparently captures the raw CCD data to a buffer memory in continuous mode, meaning that lower resolution settings don't result in longer capture series.
Movie Mode Indicated on the Exposure Mode dial by a tiny movie camera symbol, Movie mode captures movies with sound for as long as the SmartMedia card has available memory space. Both 640 x 480- and 320 x 240-pixel resolutions are available, and movies record at approximately 15 frames per second. The LCD monitor must be activated in Movie mode, and the flash is disabled. Digital zoom is also deactivated in this mode, but the full range of optical zoom is available. Recording starts and stops with a full press of the Shutter button, and a timer appears in the upper right corner of the LCD monitor to count down the remaining seconds of available recording time. Audio Recording In addition to the sound recorded with movie files, the F601 Zoom can also record as much as 4.5 hours of sound per audio recording, depending on the amount of SmartMedia space available. As with Movie mode, the available recording time appears on the LCD screen, and a full press of the Shutter button starts and stops recording. To prevent the lens from extending from the camera, turn the Mode dial to the Audio position (small microphone icon) before powering on the camera. An Audio Indexing feature lets you mark key points in an audio recording. Simply pressing the up arrow of the Multi controller during recording places an index marker in the file, so you can quickly return to each key moment. As many as 256 index markers can be set in one recording, with intervals between them as short as one second. You can also record voice captions to accompany captured still images, although in Automatic exposure mode only. To record captions, simply turn on the Voice Memo option in the Record menu. The amount of remaining recording time appears in the LCD monitor. Pressing the Menu button again saves the sound clip on the SmartMedia card. For both types of audio recording, Fuji recommends placing the microphone (on the front panel) at least 7.8 inches (20 centimeters) away from the subject.

The Mode dial selects between Manual, Scene, Auto, Movie, and Audio recording modes, while a Mode switch on the back panel controls whether the camera is in Record or Playback mode. In Auto mode, the camera maintains control over the entire exposure (including aperture and shutter speed settings), leaving you only to decide whether to use the flash or not. Both shutter speed and aperture are reported on the LCD monitor when the Shutter button is halfway pressed, giving you an idea of what the exposure will be. Under Manual exposure mode, you have the option of working in Program AE, Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, or full Manual exposure modes. In Portrait mode, the camera employs a larger aperture setting to decrease the depth of field, capturing a sharply focused subject in front of a slightly blurred background. Alternatively, Landscape mode uses a smaller lens aperture and sets focus at infinity to capture broad vistas of scenery. Landscape shots typically have both the foreground and background in sharp focus, and the flash is unavailable. Sports mode selects faster shutter speeds, for capturing fast-moving action. The flash is available in Sports mode, but only with Auto or Forced settings. Night Scene uses slower shutter speeds for shooting at lower light levels, allowing more ambient light into the image. Night Scene is good for sunsets and city night shots (such as neon lights), as the increased amount of ambient light allowed into the image preserves color in darker settings. Finally, Continuous Shooting mode captures as many as 40 consecutive shots while the Shutter button is held down.
Resolution automatically switches to 1,280 x 960 pixels in Continuous mode, although both Fine and Normal quality settings remain available. Continuous mode also automatically disables the flash. (Note that this Continuous Shooting mode is separate from the one available through the main Record menu, described further on.) The F601 Zoom's three metering modes include Average, Spot, and Multi settings. Average metering reads the entire scene and averages the readings to get the best overall exposure. Spot metering takes just one exposure reading from the center of the subject, and works best when the lighting on the subject is significantly different than that on the background. The third option, Multi, takes a series of exposure readings throughout the image to determine the best overall exposure. Multi is the default metering system in most exposure modes. You can also use this method to lock exposure only, after setting the manual focus. If you're unsure of the correct exposure, an Auto Exposure Bracketing option captures three consecutive shots at different exposure settings (one at the suggested meter reading, one underexposed, and one overexposed). When 800 or 1,600 equivalents are selected, the image resolution is automatically set to 1,280 x 960 pixels with Normal JPEG compression. White Balance settings match a wide variety of light sources, including Sunny, Shade, Daylight Fluorescent, Warm White Fluorescent, Cool White Fluorescent, and Incandescent, with an Auto setting as well. When the self-timer is activated (through the Record mode), the camera counts down from 10 seconds by lighting a small LED on the front of the camera for five seconds, and then flashing it for another five seconds. A numerical countdown also displays on the LCD monitor. Finally, there's also a sharpness adjustment that softens or sharpens the outlines in the image, with settings of Hard, Normal, and Soft.
Top ISO was 400. The 602 used AA batteries and lithiums have a long life. Only about 13 years ago. Remember when the average time span for top of the line Nikon film SLRs was about 10 years. Seems like current shelf lives are about 3 months. Glad Fuji is still going strong. Still a bottom feeder. Be sure to obtain the latest editions for use. The above restriction, however, was lifted when the Guideline was revised in January 2004. Since then, the inverter makers have individually imposed voluntary restrictions on the harmonics of their products. We, as before, recommend that you connect a reactor (for suppressing harmonics) to your inverter. For use of the other reactor, please inquire of us about detailed specifications. Japanese Guideline for Suppressing Harmonics by Customers Receiving High Voltage or Special High Voltage Refer to this manual, Appendix B for details on this guideline.Ensure you have sound knowledge of the product and familiarize yourself with all safety information and precautions before proceeding to operate the inverter. Safety precautions are classified into the following two categories in this manual. Failure to heed the information indicated by this symbol may lead to dangerous conditions, possibly resulting in death or serious bodily injuries. Failure to heed the information contained under the CAUTION title can also result in serious consequences. These safety precautions are of utmost importance and must be observed at all times. If the power supply for brake is connected to the inverter's output circuit by mistake, the brake will not work. Do not use inverters for driving motors with series-connected brake coils. Avoid such operation. In running special motors Single-phase motors Single-phase motors are not suitable for inverter-driven variable speed operation. Use three-phase motors. The heat sink and braking resistor of the inverter may become hot under certain operating conditions, so install the inverter on nonflammable material such as metal. Ensure that the circuit breaker capacity is equivalent to or lower than the recommended capacity. Installing an MC in the secondary circuit If a magnetic contactor (MC) is installed in the inverter's output (secondary) circuit for switching the motor to commercial power or for any other purpose, ensure that both the inverter and the motor are completely stopped before you turn the MC on or off. Remove a surge killer integrated with the magnetic contactor in the inverter's output (secondary) circuit. Installing an MC in the primary circuit Do not turn the magnetic contactor (MC) in the primary circuit on or off more than once an hour as an inverter failure may result. Protecting the motor The electronic thermal feature of the inverter can protect the motor. The operation level and the motor type (general-purpose motor, inverter motor) should be set. For high-speed motors or water-cooled motors, set a small value for the thermal time constant. If you connect the motor thermal relay to the motor with a long wire, a high-frequency current may flow into the wiring stray capacitance. This may cause the thermal relay to trip at a current lower than the set value. If this happens, lower the carrier frequency or use the output circuit filter (OFL). AN-079J Rev.1.2 Sep.-2016 5 Fuji Power MOSFET Fuji Electric 04 - Driver Components - Fuji Electric Fuji Electric Innovating Energy Technology Power.
Use an output circuit filter (OFL) if necessary after checking with the motor manufacturer. Fuji motors do not require the use of output circuit filters because of their reinforced insulation. Torque characteristics and temperature rise When the inverter is used to run a general-purpose motor, the temperature of the motor becomes higher than when it is operated using a commercial power supply. In the low-speed range, the cooling effect will be weakened, so decrease the output torque of the motor. If constant torque is required in the low-speed range, use a Fuji inverter motor or a motor equipped with an externally powered ventilating fan. Vibration When an inverter-driven motor is mounted to a machine, resonance may be caused by the natural frequencies of the machine system. In running general- purpose motors Noise When an inverter is used with a general-purpose motor, the motor noise level is higher than that with a commercial power supply. To reduce noise, raise carrier frequency of the inverter. Operation at 60 Hz or higher can also result in higher level of wind roaring sound. High-speed motors If the reference frequency is set to 120 Hz or more to drive a high-speed motor, test-run the combination of the inverter and motor beforehand to check for safe operation. Explosion-proof motors When driving an explosion-proof motor with an inverter, use a combination of a motor and an inverter that has been approved in advance. Submersible motors and pumps These motors have a higher rated current than general-purpose motors. Select an inverter whose rated output current is higher than that of the motor. These motors differ from general-purpose motors in thermal characteristics. Set a low value in the thermal time constant of the motor when setting the electronic thermal overcurrent protection (for motor). Brake motors For motors equipped with parallel-connected brakes, their power supply for brake must be supplied from the inverters primary circuit.

( June 2009 ) ( Learn how and when to remove this template message ). With its relatively large, but moderate-resolution Super CCD sensors, it concentrated on image quality, and low-light shooting without flash, which was mostly restricted to prosumer models at the time. One of the camera's weaknesses, however, was manual shooting. Lacking aperture and shutter speed priority modes, the F10 was mostly a point and shoot camera. Other criticisms included the proprietary dongle needed to make any connections to the camera and a relatively high level of purple fringing. It also had a slightly improved LCD screen and a few other minor improvements to the F10.Although there is definite noise in pictures taken at 3200 ISO, they are often usable, and the F30 was seen as another leap forward in low-light abilities for a compact camera.Compared to the F30, the F20 had a lower-resolution LCD screen, lower capacity battery, a maximum ISO of 2000, and a few other changes to the body and menu system. It also lacked Aperture Priority and Shutter Priority modes. A small number of F20s were sold under the names F20SE and F20 LE. The LE version was primarily distributed by a large UK Electronics Retail chain with the only difference being a 'gunmetal' finish. The F31fd also has a new IrSimple data transfer capability for wireless printing and photos viewing on IrSimple enabled TV sets. The F40fd was also sold under the name FinePix F45fd with only cosmetic differences. It is not firmware compatible with the F40fd but it has its own firmware update available to add support for SDHC memory cards.Succeeding its 2006 predecessor, the F31fd, this latest model is greatly improved over the F40fd. Boasting a 7th generation 12-megapixel Super CCD, a 2.
7 inch amorphous silicon TFT LCD screen and a sleek new design, the F50fd is the first model in the Finepix 'F' series to feature optical-based image stabilization, referred to as Dual Stabilization Mode. Face recognition has been updated to 2.0, now featuring an automatic red-eye removal. No longer does the camera need a direct-frontal shot in order to identify a face, it can capture faces at different angles without the subject having to look straight to the camera. A small number of F50fds were sold under the name F50SE.It features a 12-megapixel chip, a wide angle zoom (28-140mm equiv.), and ISO capabilities up to ISO 3200 (full resolution) or up to ISO 12800 at 3M recorded pixels. The F100fd does not contain aperture priority or shutter priority modes, hence it cannot be considered a successor of the F11, F30, F31, F50 models. The pink band can be seen on the left side of the photograph. FujiFilm attempted to address the situation with a firmware update. Not all F100's exhibit this problem, and in real world shooting, not artificial 'black space', it is not noticeable in the vast majority of cases. The F100fd has no continuous aperture. For this reason the F100fd (or a successor with the same lens system) cannot be equipped with the creative shooting modes (i.e. aperture or shutter priority). In contrast to the F100fd, the F60fd does have photography modes for creative shooting (i.e. aperture and shutter priority). The camera offers several manual modes and automatic scene recognition. Its most remarkable feature is the choice between three different sensor modes: fullThe latter two modes work at effectiveThe F200EXR also features sensor stabilization. The F72EXR is identical to the F70EXR but has a black body instead of the F70EXR's gunmetal gray color. The F80EXR is visually identical to the F70EXR except for some minor differences. It does not follow the previous F-series camera's large sensor in a small body moto.
Also new to the F series is a long 15X optical zoom lens (24-360mm) and a hybrid autofocus system which uses both TTL Contrast detection and Phase detection, similar to auto focus systems used in DSLRs. 2 dedicated pixels on the sensor divide incoming light into image pairs to determine the direction and the amount of focus adjustments to achieve faster level of focus compared to TTL contrast auto focus systems. Other new features include a double sliding lens structure which make the lens both a wide angle and telephoto lens in a smaller package and a pop up flash. The F300EXR is also capable of 720P high definition video recording. These included the compact, uniquely shaped F401, F402, F410, F420, F440, and F450, the larger but well-regarded F700 and F810, and the F601 Zoom and F610. Some of these cameras had earlier versions of the Super CCD sensor, but Fuji had not yet refined the use of the sensor specifically to reduce noise, and had not yet combined other low-light performance features to make them stand out. The F700 and F601 Zoom, for instance, were capable of ISO 1600 but only in 1-megapixel mode. Most of these earlier cameras did not have autofocus assist beams, and none of them had remarkable battery life.By using this site, you agree to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. The new 16-megapixel model somehow shoehorns a 15x optical zoom (24-360mm equivalent in 35mm terms) into a slender, handbag or pocket friendly chassis, measuring just 22.9mm in depth at its thinnest point. The lens barrel is surrounded by what resembles a pregnant bulge, its rounded edges and controls avoiding this Fujifilm looking like the usual rectangular box that so many other compacts resemble. So in practice we didn't miss that the camera omits an optical viewfinder of any kind, as the LCD screen is perfectly adequate for outdoor use. On average, a Fujifilm service manual has got the following contents FujiFilm.
Choosing Best Frame Capture shoots at 11fps at 8 megapixel resolution from the moment that you focus and then saves up to 16 images including pre-recorded frames. Once the burst is completed, it takes over fifteen seconds for the camera to clear the buffer, during which you cannot take another picture. There is also another continuous shooting speeds where the Fujifilm F500 EXR shoots at a faster speed 11fps at at 4 megapixel resolution for up to 32 frames. Note that the F500EXR doesn't support the RAW format - you'll have to pay a little bit more for the the F550EXR model to get that functionality. Nudge the latter and said zoom veritably powers through its broad focal range, zipping from maximum wideangle to extreme telephoto in actually under three seconds, and thankfully a little quiter than on the previous F300EXR model. Ranged around the dial, which turns with just the right amount of resistance for it to lock firmly into place at each setting, are a range of shooting options, such as full auto, program, shutter priority, aperture priority and manual modes, along with a scene position mode (SP1) that's pre-optimised for common subjects. Note that there are only three available apertures in A mode, rather limiting your control, although there is a full range of shutter speeds on offer. First up is the EXR Auto mode (one of the four EXR modes), which is an 'auto everything' scene recognition mode that's the equivalent of Panasonic's Intelligent Auto mode. There's a choice between shooting at full 16 megapixel resolution in High Resolution (HR) mode, or an 8 megapixel image in the Low Noise (SN) mode for shooting without flash in low light conditions, or the Dynamic Range (DR) mode to achieve an optimal balance between shadows and highlights. The latter offers five strengths ranging from 100-1600%. If you can't decide which is best for a chosen scene or subject, then just leave the camera on the scene-detecting EXR Automatic Mode and let it choose for itself.
Note that the camera will only automatically adjust the ISO speed when using the Auto shooting mode - in the other modes the ISO speed that you select will always be used, so only the mechanical CCD-shift part of the system is used. Fujifilm suggests this is ideal for photographing never-sit-still children and babies. We also get full 1080p HD movie clips, with usefully a dedicated video mode button on the backplate that falls readily under the thumb, and a mini HDMI output alongside the regular AV and USB output at one side. Plus, in playback mode, there's a chance to sort through images faster with the Photobook feature, as well as rate your favourites by allocating stars to them. There's a gentle curve and rubber patch to the left hand edge at the front while at the back the F500 EXR Fujifilm has introduced possibly the first 'booty' on a digital camera. A bulge top right provides a resting place for the thumb, a backward slanted shooting mode dial (thus echoing the FinePix HS10) topping it off; an unusual move that Fujifilm suggests makes for easier control access and so faster operation. It looks at once like that portion of the camera is melting, and at the same time very cool indeed. The integral flash, prior to this neatly sunk within the top plate, rises automatically, and without request, much the same in fact as the flash does on the Canon PowerShot SX220 IS. You can at least gently rest your finger on the flash to stop it from appearing, or push it back down once it has risen. Instead the Continuous menu option brings up four options - Off, Top 4, Best Frame Capture and three different kinds of bracketing (exposure, film simulation mode and dynamic range). Choosing Top 4 allows you to take 8 full-resolution photos at 8 frames per second, which is faster than most compact cameras and indeed most DSLRs too.

Here is the eight most popular comparisons of Fujifilm F500 EXR amongst Camera Decision readers. It would also be interesting to compare Fujifilm F500 EXR with Cameras. Below we have listed 4 highest ranked cameras in Fujifilm F500 EXR's price range. If Sports Photography is important for you, we strongly recommend you to consider the Alternative cameras listed at the bottom of this page.
Read our detailed Fujifilm F500 EXR Review Manual exposure mode in these conditions helps a lot in order to achieve correct and consistent exposure. Image Stabilization Image stabilization reduces the effects of camera shake at long focal lengths thus ensuring sharper photos during sports photography. 360 mm Tele Lens 360 mm reach lens will be adequate in most sports events. A potential problem may be when you use a fast aperture at very strong light, your camera may overexpose because of slow max shutter speed Environmental Sealings Most outdoor sports games are held in all-weather, so your camera has to be ready for difficult conditions such as rain and snow. Exposure to dust and water splashes are also very common in sports. Unknown Focus Points In sports photography, you keep continuous autofocus (AFC) mode on for tracking the subject and more focus means better tracking. No Manual Focus Mode Compact cameras are not great at focusing moving objects especially at low light and your camera may not even fire bacause of not locking the focus, so manual focus mode is very useful at these times. No Built-in Viewfinder In the lack of a a viewfinder, holding the camera away from the body while using live view is not very stable, especial with heavy camera bodies and lenses. Besides, LCD screens are very hard to read under bright sunlight. No External Flash Shoe When shooting indoor sports or outdoor sports at low light, an external flash may become very helpful. No RAW shooting capability RAW files contains much more color information compared to JPEGs, and gives you more room for post processing without significant quality loss. They provide wider dynamic range and option to recover shadow and highlight clipping to some degree. A new 16 MP EXR-CMOS sensor delivers high resolution, extra fast and high quality results in a wide range of lighting conditions.
The first shooting mode is the Panorama option, clearly inspired by Sony's popular Sweep Panorama function. This lets you capture a 120, 180 or 360 degree panoramic image very easily without the use of a tripod. Exposure compensation is available before you start the sweep, with the exposure fixed once you depress the shutter button. After you are done with the sweeping, the camera does all the processing required, and presents you with a finished panoramic image. The final panorama is of relatively low resolution, and if you do the sweeping too slowly, or you let go of the shutter release button too early, the panorama will be truncated. If the exposure varies throughout the scene, then some areas will be over or under exposed, depending upon the exposure value that was chosen as the panorama was started. Finally, people and indeed anything that moves in the frame are recorded as several ghost outlines, which means that you can really only record static, empty scenes, something that Sony have solved in the latest iteration of their Sweep Panorama feature. The Pro Focus mode makes it easier to achieve a blurred background, perfect for portraits where compact digicams traditionally struggle. This means that movie quality needs to be adjusted separately by delving into the camera's shooting menu via the main 'menu' button. Surprisingly the zoom function can also be used when shooting movies, but in this mode it is altogether smoother, steadier and any operational noise - though still audible if filming in quieter environs - is nevertheless dampened down. There are still few digital compacts that offer 1080p video recording, so the F500 EXR is a definite camera to consider if movies are your thing. It can record video clips up to 29 minutes long for the 1920x1080 and 1280x720 pixel formats, with longer times available for VGA and SVGA modes.
The dedicated Movie button on the rear makes it quick and easy to shoot a movie without missing the start of the action, and there's a mini-HDMI port for connection to a HDTV (cable not supplied). You can select one of the Film Simulation modes to give your footage a more creative look, and there's the option to take a still photo at any time during movie recording. This slow-motion effect is initially very appealing and sure to impress your friends, but there are some drawbacks to be aware of. Sound isn't recorded at all, horizontal bands can appear as the lighting fluctuates, and the actual sizes of the recorded movies are pretty small. Press this and as well as reviewing images the user is invited to have access to all the camera's extensive photobook features.Last but no means least, tucked into the right hand corner of the F500 EXR's backplate is an 'F' (for 'Foto') button which, as regular Fujifilm users will know, provides a short cut to the likes of image quality and the film simulation modes. Operation pared down to the bare essentials for quick and easy access then, and very useful it is too. If you shoot under these conditions very often, consider checking Top Compact Cameras with Weather Sealing page. If you need a Compact camera with a RAW support, consider Panasonic Lumix DC-ZS80 (Lumix DC-TZ95) or Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS70 (Lumix DC-TZ90) in the same price range. Kodak Astro Zoom AZ651 with its 21.0MP sensor is leading in this class. Check the comparison of Fujifilm F500 EXR vs Kodak Astro Zoom AZ651 or take a look at Highest resolution Compact cameras list. F500 EXR doesn't have a viewfinder and no option for external viewfinder. Lack of a viewfinder can be problematic especially under strong light where visibility of LCD screens goes down dramatically. If you need a Compact camera with a built-in viewfinder in a similar price range, consider Panasonic Lumix DC-ZS80 (Lumix DC-TZ95) ( Compare ) or Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS70 (Lumix DC-TZ90) ( Compare ).
The Dual Image Stabilization system ensures that your shots stay extra-crisp and clear, even at the full 15x zoom or in very low-light. The PDF I have says Final N, Best Frame, and AE Bracketing are F550EXR only. According to KimL's table comparing features, Top-12 is only available in S (small) size, either model. Does your F500EXR have Last N or only Top N? There might be a small misprint in the table above. Thanks for asking, because this clarifies a discrepancy.BUT it was only accessable from 'auto' mode. You couldn't find it unless you were in auto. Maybe the same thing for yours? Specs say you can get Top 6 with M (medium) size, and Top 12 with S (small) size. The only improvement is that it has top 4 instead of top 3. Plus various bracketing options and best frame capture, as in the manual. On the F550 I can't even find final 4, which would be expected if the F500 has final 3. There is no Continuous mode, as such. Whew, this section of the manual is way wrong! This is bull this is, they can't advertise features and not include em, do fuji do this often. This is bull this is, they can't advertise features and not include em, do fuji do this often. What I just did was something different. Hummmmmm ! wll Set the camera to TOP 4 than go back to the shooting mode as if you we going to take a pic (your NOT in the menu list), your looking at your monitor ready to take a pic. THEN hit the flash sign on the right side.
At that time the camera will give the continuous shooting speed etc, etc. You still have to play with it as different modes give different rates. The manual is very, very poor in explaining this. Hope this helps ! wll How? Set the camera to TOP 4 than go back to the shooting mode as if you we going to take a pic (your NOT in the menu list), your looking at your monitor ready to take a pic. That's exactly how the manual reads to me and what I showed above, If I can work that out without even having my camera with me then it must be a piece of cake with your camera in your hand. Paul. Pretty terrible user-interface design, don't you think. Moreover the F550's absolute limit in M (medium) size is 16 frames with JPEG, 6 frames with RAW. It does not seem possible to keep shooting (with FIFO buffer) until the card fills up, as was possible on the F200EXR. In experimenting, I was impressed by the speed of RAW shooting. The camera is ready to shoot again way before the RAW processing is finished. It is much faster than the official 5-6 second numbers I've seen. Despite a couple of quirks, we think it's a camera that photographers and non-photographers alike will find fun to use. 1412 Sony a7C initial review: Compact size, big sensor image quality first impressions Sep 15, 2020 at 01:00 Sony's a7C is among the smallest full-frame mirrorless cameras you can buy, and in terms of core capability, not much has been sacrificed for the sake of compactness. Light falling on ordinary sensors has to pass through a layer of wiring before it hits the light- sensitive photo diodes. This layer of wiring reduces light transmission.

But the Fuji F470 is really about as slim as you want a digital camera, and other than being slightly longer than some competing slim models, it can fit easily into a pocket, though I don't recommend squeezing any digital camera into your jeans because it can become damaged. Instead, stow the Fuji F470 safely in a case in a backpack or hand bag and you're good to go. A slight swell on the right side (from the user's perspective) provides a decent hand-grip. On the back of the camera, as inelegant as it may seem, is a circular indenture that looks like someone pushed their thumb into a piece of clay. Turns out it's a perfect spot for your thumb and gives you easy access to the zoom rocker. The one minor gripe I have about them -- aside from my usual rant about how insanely small the buttons are -- is that it's easy to accidentally turn the Mode Dial out of the Auto setting into the Scene or Movie modes. The Mode Dial surrounds the shutter button. Make sure you're in the mode you want or you might mistakenly be taking a slow-sync flash shot in Night Mode when you're standing outside in bright sun. Resolution is decent too at 115,000 pixels and playback rendered fairly accurate images. The LCD has a gain-up control that senses low-light situations and automatically brightens the display to compensate. The user can also brighten the screen manually by using the top arrow of the four-way nav ring in shooting mode. There is no optical viewfinder on the Fuji F470. Though it's a little slow (and not particularly smooth) when zooming all the way out to the full 3x optical, shutter lag at the end of the telephoto registers an average 0.61 seconds. On the wide angle, lag is shorter at 0.56 seconds. When you pre-focus things improve quite a bit, as expected, with shutter lag dropping down to 0.103 seconds. Again, we're not talking about a speed demon of a camera, but perfectly adequate for family outings or group photos.

That's a responsibility we take seriously, one that deserves the best effort we're capable of.The Fujifilm FinePix F470 is the latest in a long line of slim digital cameras from Fuji, and at first blush there's nothing in particular that separates this model from the dozen or so others out there with similar feature sets. Not quite as svelte as Fujifilm's stylish Z1 and the soon-to-be released Z3, the 3.6 x 2.3 x 0.8-inch F470 has a 6-megapixel CCD sensor, a 3x optical zoom, a 2.5-inch LCD, and ten scene modes. There's nothing truly revolutionary here, but that's not always important. What is important is the Fuji F470's utility.Though the camera's polycarbonate body has a plastic feel in spots, the generous metal accents give it solid durability.
Marketing jargon aside, the camera moves along briskly with few stumbles. Though a fairly standard shot with good late afternoon light, Fuji's color algorithms really brought out the purple, yellow and green of the awning and the red of the tenements bricks. The overhanging tree is also rendered nicely with rich, but not oversaturated, realistic looking green leaves.Sharpness degraded a bit when zoomed out to 3x which is typical for cameras in this class. Because the Fuji F470 has neither image stabilization nor a real usable ISO setting above 200 (the camera's ISO400 produced poor results), fully zoomed shots should only be attempted in good lighting conditions when you can hold the camera steady. Some shots I took of a bowl of radishes in what I though was manageable indoor light for the Fuji F470's ISO 400 setting looked overly orange and were very soft and fuzzy. Switching on the flash, however, produced a nice still-life with good color and non-blown out whites.Definitely not the camera for anyone who likes to get creative with the settings, which is probably why Fuji buried the limited manual control the F470 has. In movie mode, the camera can capture video clips of up to 640x480 pixels at 30 frames per second with monoaural sound. Simply increasing the size and design of the icons so they're easier to read might be a good starting point. Buttons were also fairly easy to use, if a bit small for my fingers. The Fuji F470's rechargeable battery can capture a slightly below-average 200 images per charge, according to CIPA standards. The camera also comes with 16MB of internal memory. Though its low-light capabilities are lackluster, in regular daylight shooting conditions, or when shooting with flash, this little camera can capture some bright and boldly colorful images. In full Auto mode in daylight shooting situations, the Fujifilm F470 is a beginning photographer's dream with a responsive image processor for good shot-to-shot performance.
Though it doesn't use one of Fuji's much ballyhooed Super CCD HR sensors, the F470 employs a more than adequate 6 megapixel CCD image sensor that can capture the sort of rich, dramatic color Fuji has been known for since its roll film days. And you can view your shots on the big 2.5 inch LCD. Though I prefer shooting in low light without a flash, the Fuji F470 I tested took some pretty decent photos with its flash engaged, avoiding overexposing the whites. But if you like a small camera you can easily slip into a bag while driving around town or travelling and forget about until it's time to shoot, the F470 is designed for you. While I was most impressed with its portability, the Fuji F470 can take some dynamite pictures in the right lighting. Fujifilm. This CCD and processor combination ensures that pictures taken with the FinePix F470 are colorful, clear, and crisp. A 3x optical zoom lens from world-renowned lens manufacturer Fujinon brings the user closer to the subject. Picture-taking environments can vary depending on many factors, such as lighting and location, and changes in a camera's settings are often necessary to produce the most eye-pleasing picture. The FinePix F470 makes the selection of these settings a snap by offering a helpful set of 10 scene modes that provide the correct setting for picture success. These scene modes include the familiar Portrait, Sport, Landscape, and Night settings, as well as more defined settings such as Beach and Snow, Sunset, Museum, Party, Flower Close-Up, Text, and a manual mode. The FinePix F470's 2.5-inch LCD won't leave the user in the dark.
It has a manual gain-up control that senses a low-light setting and brightens to compensate. This feature, which the user also can control manually, is a big boon to the photographer when shooting in restaurants and other dimly lit environments. Another helpful feature of the FinePix F470 is 16 MB of internal memory. This is the moment when a photographer must choose between missing a photo opportunity because the media card is full and forever deleting a picture to make room for a new one. Not an easy decision, and one the photographer often has to make in a split second's time. The FinePix F470 eliminates this decision altogether by having available storage space on board for extra security. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Cox 5.0 out of 5 stars I've bought several for home and school and they always take wonderful photos on even the cheapest model. I was going to buy a new little Olympus, and my son talked me into considering this little Fujifilm Finepix instead. It has many special settings--but a day with the owner's manual and a little experimentation has allowed me to try some of these out and it really adds alot of dimension to a point and shoot camera. It makes really great close ups--they almost look 3-D on the flower setting. The automatic setting is wonderful--great shots with point and shoot. But there are also low light settings, micro settings, short video with sound from a built in mic. I'm still experimenting with all the settings--but so far--great fun--and really wonderful resolution and color. I almost feel like I have some of the control back that I used to have with my 35 mm.
This camera is very compact--I have to wear my glasses to see the menu items--but they are logical little symbols--which are easier to see than most. The buttons are large enough to press with no trouble. I think what I am most impressed with is the actual color--it is brighter and more intense than the Olympus I was going to buy. I had a fujifilm A330 which I really loved, but the screen was super small. I couldn't be happier with this new Fuji. The timing between flashes is amazingly quick. There is almost NO wait whatsoever. The detail of the pictures is fantastic. My favorite thing though, is how the camera feels in my hand. It fits JUST right and it is easy to take one handed photos. One other thing is that a lot of camera's have a jerky affect when you are looking at the viewing screen. This moves smoothly over whatever you point at and I prefer that!Only drawback was the battery. It had a great life for the first year or so but afterwards it started to drain a lot quicker. The picture quality is good, its easy to use, absolutely no complaints. Its pretty durable too- it holds up well on vacation and survives being stolen by 2 year olds. Plus its small and light so its easy to carry in a pocket or purse.I like the large viewer, but it is difficult to see on a sunny beach day. Most of the time I use the full auto mode, but the night and sports choices are handy. But now cell phones are taking pictures that. But now cell phones are taking pictures that get more pixils than this thing, so I would recommend just using your cell phone. Thanks. She loves it. Easy to use, compact, takes great pics and great videos for such as small inexpensive camera. For as many pictures as I take, this will be a good item for my use. I rate it 5 stars and recommend it to anyone! To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
