These earliest 200A lanterns had green painted steel founts and, by November, also had the Coleman decal. This lantern is in Dan Boschen’s collection. The fount and direction disk are both marked US. Not tested and sold as is. My home is shared with pets and I smoke.This lantern is good cosmetic condition but I can't get it to light because it won't pump up. I oiled the pump leather and tested by screwing the pump in to the right and trying to pump while holding my thumb over the hole. And it has strong resistance. This should indicate the pump is working properly but the tank will not pressurize. The tank is in great shape and has no holes and only very few faint rust speckles within the paint. I think the pressure loss is within the pump at the very bottom as I could smell gas had some gas on my hand after pumping. The lantern has. more a few scratches and scuffs throughout. It has minor rust speckles within the bottom of the shroud. The lid has an enamel chip on the top at the screw and one on the lower rim. The tank has no leaks and is solid. I flushed the tank and it looks very clean on the inside. The globe has no cracks but it has some rough speckles that looks if some clear substance had been splashed on it. It is hard to notice and should not affect lighting. There are no dents or other obvious damage. This is a very nice looking lantern for its age, but it needs repair. This will be shipped without the mantles. As they probably would not survive shipment since they have holes anyway. I have another vintage lantern listed. Please check my other items if interested. Dan They don't hold a lot of fuel, and are not as bright as a full sized lantern. They also don't burn as long as a full sized lantern. If you fish in a shelter, they don't throw off as much heat to keep you warm as a full sized lantern. Otherwise, they are just as reliable. They are a backpacker's lantern. Maybe I'll start there since that one is a little bigger than the 226 and has dual mantles for more heat. I'll try that first and see if I need something even smaller. Your feedback is appreciated! My only complaint about the 222B is that it wants to be pumped up every 20 to 30 minutes or so in cooler conditions to maintain maximum light output, which really isn't a big deal to me. I usually don't have a problem with mantles breaking; it probably helps that I use the soft carrying bag made by Coleman and load it in my pack carefully and tightly. The lantern doesn't seem particularly tippy in use but I try to be careful with it. I've used the 222B on canoe trips almost every year since 1994 and finally wore out the pump cup in 2010. Pretty reliable in my experience. If you can find some silklite mantels, they hold up a lot better then the new ones. I take my 222 on motorcycle trips and it is packed on it's side. The current mantel has over 15,000 miles of rough roads and it still burns bright. I also have to pump it up about every 30 min, but that is just the nature of the little beast. The 222 and 226 are more or less the same thing.
