I love how it's so compact because it makes it all that much easier to pack up and use. It has a 3 light status indicator letting you know when it's time to charge it. The quick connect fittings are a great little addition making it so much easier to attach the hoses. It's not very big or heavy so it won't take up a lot of space or be hard to carry. October 16, 2019 I was really excited about getting the Coleman portable hot water on demand. Our family is always camping and doing long distence travels. So i just knew this would be a great accessory to add to our collection. We have used it a few times now and haven't had any issues. The water heats within seconds. And it has grest water pressure. That is one thing i worried abput. But its strong enougj for the shower to feel kind of like a shower. Of course not really but it is similiar. We have used over 100 gallons so far and no issues. This has been key to have on our trips. The 5 gallon water container top was warped so the hose would not screw on tight. It leaked when turned on its side. It wastes water while lighting it. You have to turn on the pump before lighting it so, cold water is being pumped out before you even begin to use it. Their is no way to turn off the water flow while showering after getting wet down. You have to shut the unit down while lathering up, then restart it, wasting more water, to rinse off. We used a bucket large enough to put the shower head and pump into so the water that was flowing out during start up was recirculated.
I then attached a hose to the pressure relief valve and secured the hose to the water intake line all the way to the pump; essentially when you close the valve at the shower head, the pressure in the line increases and the pressure relief valve opens causing the hot water to flow back to the water source.I put it to the test on an island in Maine for 2 weeks with no electricity the unit continue to run pumping out over a hundred and thirty gallons of hot water before the battery needed replacement. The average amount of water used per shower was about four gallons. When I open the box several parts were missing that are Central including the battery and the pump mechanism. Should be wear if you're tempted to buy this product as a used products. I highly recommend this unit. Its battery dies after about an hour of total use and though it offers a manual (electric free) lighting option, this is worthless if the pump cannot run due to a dead battery. It is not capable of being turned up to its hottest temperature otherwise it immediately shuts off. The only way to keep any continuous stream of LUKE WARM water is keep it turned so low that id have better luck using my body heat. Didn't get the opportunity to use it until the return date had expired so now im down several hundred dollars. Wouldn't even give this one star. The onboard battery had completely ruptured and failed (photos). Its a Li-Ion battery and so its very susceptible to permanent damage if its internal voltage drops too low. I accidentally left mine at full discharged state and then left the unit sitting in storage for over 9 months. After that the battery would not hold any usable charge. The old battery plug lead will need to be solder spliced onto the new battery. Whats most important though is the core water heater internals have been reliable. The thermostat setting we found perfect for showers has remained the same over multiple camping trips.
Its significant upgrade if running the unit from a limited supply of water. It totally exceeded our expectations. We do a lot of camping where there are no showers available. We can set it up in just a couple minutes. We just bring the water we need. A nice hot shower after being out in the woods all day is really nice.Good as a doorstop, but definitely not hot water on demand.Works beautifully. Hooked a small five gallon propane tank to the unit instead of the 1 gallon disposable green ones so could refill instead of create garbage. Highly recommend.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. We had the old style of Coleman hot water shower years ago and loved it. The unit was very small. You started the burner first and then turned on the water flow. You could turn the water flow on and off as needed while still keeping the flame going. See more Reviewed by Rockhead and Warwoman Rockhead and Warwoman Written by a coleman.com customer. Helpful? Other's I've talked to have the same problem. For the price of this unit you'd expect the most fundamental parts to work--it is disappointing to find that Coleman hasn't addressed this problem despite years of feedback. The first year it was used three times to provide showers and then cleans and put away for the winter. This year it has been nothing but problems. The internal battery will not hold a charge so to operate it has to be connected to an external power sources. The pilot light is ineffective and has limited accessiblity. When the manual has work arounds for the fundamental components that tells you the original testers had problems and Coleman produced the product regardless. With variable temperature control from scalding (hot enough for tea or coffee) to cold and anywhere in between, the Coleman Portable Water Heater provides on-demand hot water as you need it. The heater comes with a 5-gallon collapsible water container but can be adapted for use with a hose with an additional accessory (sold separately) for continuous flow water. The heater works to heat water in just five seconds with a built in propane fueled burner (propane sold separately). Unlike traditional methods of heating water in the great outdoors (think tiny camp stove and two gallon pot) the heater is equipped with a built in igniter so you can turn the water on and off as you need it. A simple turn of the heater's dial delivers the hot water in just five seconds. The Coleman Hot Water-On-Demand Heater can heat 40 gallons of water on just one Coleman 16.4 ounce propane bottle and a single pump battery charge. Additional accessories that are sold separately include: a spray adapter for showering, a carry case, a water hose adapter for continuous water flow, and a bulk propane adapter. Inventor of the hugely popular fold-up camp stove, Coleman developed a plastic liner for his galvanized steel coolers in 1957--the birth of the modern cooler--and the company has been improving their utility and design ever since. The array of products that bear the Coleman name now includes just about everything you might need to work or play outdoors, from tents and sleeping bags to boats, backpacks, and furniture.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness. Please try again later. MarkSchre 4.0 out of 5 stars During our most recent camping trip the unit performed poorly - seemingly it wouldn't hold a charge and almost immediately showed the battery was low. This could happen in as little as 15 seconds of operation from a full charge. So, I read the reviews and found others have had problems with their batteries and I started my investigation there. First I found that the battery is a FP645 made by First Power Technology and, by specifications, should be a pretty good unit for this application. Here is a link to their online data sheet: Next I pulled out my volt meter and found the battery - which had not been charged since showing low charge in the unit - read about 6.45 volts, a very high state of charge, albeit with zero load on it (removed from the unit). So, I arranged the unit on my kitchen counter without a propane bottle such that the pump was immersed in a sink of water, the discharge would fall back into the sink, the battery was on the counter, and the volt meter leads were tucked into the battery connections so I could see what happened as the unit operated. Maybe the voltage would drop off quickly. Later I learned that unless the unit is heating water it doesn't seem to give the low battery indication so that's why it ran for so long. Referencing the Discharge Characteristics on the battery data sheet it seems the unit draws a bit less than the curve indicated by 0.6C (I'm not going to explain how that is determined; too much math). During another test with a propane bottle installed, and by watching the volt meter until the unit gave a low battery indication, I found that the threshold is 5.6 Volts. For a full battery that should give about 45 minutes of continuous pumping, maybe a bit more.
Since flow is about a gallon per minute the claimed 40 gallons seems justified. So, in my opinion, the problem with my unit was probably a poor battery connection that needed to be reseated. The battery continues to work great and we love having the convenience of this Coleman water heater. Maybe the other reviews that suggest Coleman doesn't provide good information about maintaining the battery had the same problem but it was mis-diagnosed. That fits the facts provided in those reviews but maybe there is more to their story, so I cannot judge for certain. With the ammeter capability of my volt meter I confirmed there is zero current drawn when the unit isn't operating, and that was taken on a range that will read micro-amps. So, the Coleman unit isn't draining the battery when not in use. As a further note, the battery data sheet indicates self-discharge at 25C (warn room temperature - 77F) is about 3% of capacity per month. Instead search for FP645 and you'll find several suitable batteries that can be had for a fraction of Coleman's price. This review is about Coleman Customer Service. The packaging of the product was fine, but apparently at some point this panel detached itself, fell to the bottom of the box, and the little plastic clip broke off. So I decided since Amazon doesn't really provide a way to request individual parts, I visited the Coleman website, and chatted with one of their representatives. I explained the issue, and the person immediately offered to send a replacement part at no charge. Now that is good customer service. I'll update my review once I've used the unit. One should turn it off and on as need it, while other person is taking shower. I expected it will shutoff and start automatically when you open and close the water, but this is not the case. Also it is bulky and heavy. I can see only one positive thing about it, it use small propane tanks, which is available everywhere.First time was on hold for 18 mins - had to hang up.

coleman hot tubs manuals
Turn on the pump and inflate spa sections sequentially if there are numbered compartments (again, check your manual). This is usually near the bottom interior of the tub. Yes, it’s a simple as that. Most whirlpool tubs have a “fill line” on the interior wall of the spa, which makes it easy to know how high to fill it. Generally, there is a “heat” button located on the pump, and you want to press that. You will then be able to adjust the temperature to your liking. According to the Public Health Department of King County, “Maintaining a proper chemical balance will reward you with clear, clean, fresh-smelling hot tub water” as well. This is done through regularly adding pool chemicals or saline solutions, and sometimes a water treatment package. More info here. A one-time visit is all you will need, and you can get inexpensive water test strips to check the water yourself.Start by detaching the pump. Then attach a garden hose to the outlet of the spa designated to draining (look for an adapter in your package if needed). Finally, remove the stopper cap usually located near or on the spa’s interior floor. The water will drain out the hose. It can also be helpful to point the hose down a slope if possible. This can speed up water flow as the tub nears empty. If you use chlorine or a shock treatment in your spa, simply stop using it several days before you empty your tub to let the chemicals dissipate. It makes buying a hot tub easy and it eliminates much of the cost typically spent on delivery and installation. If you want to buy a hot tub but are turned off by a work-intensive shopping experience or a long drawn-out set up process, you are in for a great surprise with blow-up plug-and-play spas. The spa's adjustable controls allow for a fully-customizable relaxation experience at the end of every day. This includes upgraded cabinets with premium finish, with the look and feel of natural wood on the exterior and its sleek corners. Sure as Zen appeal!

With simple care and maintenance, you can trust that your Hot Spot spa will run at its best for years to come. There is also a troubleshooting section included for your convenience. Of course, you will want to refer to the user manual for your specific model (see below) for the proper guidelines and steps, but this outline will give you a general idea of the steps to take. The location also must be able to support the weight of the unit, contained water and users at all times. The packaging or manual of inflatable spas will typically list the “filled weight” of the tub. Attach the inflation valve securely to the liner. Plug in the pump. Attach the inflation hose to both the pump and the tub.
A simple cleaning can be done with a soft brush and hose to dig out any large particles and clear the filter for better flow. A deep filter clean is great to pair with a routine water replacement for your spa. Quarterly, you should drain and refill the water in your hot tub. While you do this it is a good idea to do a thorough cleaning of your filter. Instead of just rinsing the filter out with water, we recommend soaking the filter overnight in cleaning agents to maximize filter health. Always be sure to do a final water rinse and dry of the filter before re-installation. Replacement (Annually). With regular spa use, it is recommended to do a full filter replacement annually. After regular cleaning, the filter media beings to break down over time. Annually a full replacement is recommended to ensure a long life for all other parts of the spa. Nothing can substitute a brand new filter, and it will feel as if your spa has been completely revived. The water will be cleaner and will flow better overall. Two person seating means you can relax with company! For roto mold spa manuals, see the section further down on this page. For more information go to: www.p65Warnings.ca.gov A couple simple steps on a set schedule can keep your investment lasting long, looking good, and keep you feeling relaxed with every use. The Basics (Routine Maintenance). There are a couple simple things to keep an eye on in order to keep your spa optimal for regular use. First off, the most important thing is to use your basic senses. Does your water look clear. Does it smell funny. Does the water feel clean. If you notice anything out of the ordinary about your water, you may need to stay on top of your routine maintenance for your spa. If you notice any leaves or large debris in your water, use a skimmer to scoop up anything you can see. If you notice any smells or scale floating in the water, continue in the article to find out how to remedy these issues. A good thing to regularly check is water chemistry. This is one of the most important things to keep track of when maintaining your spa. A couple test strips or pH test kit are a must have to make sure that your spa water is healthy. The ideal pH balance of your spa should be hovering around the 7.2-7.8 range. Any lower and your water is too acidic. It is important to regularly check pH because any imbalance can hinder the sanitizing agents and promote bacterial growth or cause cloudy or scale buildup in the water. The chemicals needed are pretty straightforward. Quickspaparts.com offers all the chemical test equipment you need! Chlorine Test Strips. Bromine Test Strips. Filter Cleaning (Once every two weeks). Once your pH balances are in check, but you are still noticing issues with your water flow and filter efficiency, it may be time to take a look at your filter. A good rule of thumb is to remove and clean your filter bi-weekly to ensure minimal blockages and maximize the life of your filter.
There are essentially four modes of operation: (1) circulating pump ON with heater ON (2) circulating pump ON with heater OFF (3) air pump ON (produced bubbles) (4) everything OFF. When I say “circulating pump” I’m referring to the pump that circulates water through the filters and through the heater. The bubbles are created by an air pump that pulls in outside air (which can be cold!) and out the little holes in the bottom of the tub. Note you can’t run the heater with the bubbles on as it shuts off automatically. When the pump and heater are ON, it pulls about 1250 watts (1.25 kW). When just the air pump is on producing bubbles, it pulls about 650 watts. Therefore, if you have the temperature set at its max of 104 deg, you may find it running all the time with the heater on. The temperature setting is everything and I would suggest keeping it at 100 deg all the time (particularly if you live in a cold climate like I do) and if you know you’re going to use it later, crank it up to 104. It will take a couple of hours to reach that. When you’re done, set it back to 100 deg. I’m not sure how that was possible, but maybe. I stitched together two moving blankets and have been laying them over the hot tub inflatable cover when I’m not using it. I need to figure out how to put the blankets in some sort of waterproof wrapping so they can be out there in the rain and snow. Another suggestion is to find some sort of insulation (preferably waterproof) below the hot tub. The supplied “bubble wrap” liner they give you to put under it probably isn’t sufficient. Mine sits on my deck (yes, I designed my deck to support a hot tub weight) and the cold air from below is obviously sucking out some heat. This is similar to the effect on bridges where they freeze before the roads do since their underbelly is exposed and cool off faster. 8. Bubbles cool the water off fairly quickly. As mentioned it pulls in cold outside air and pumps it up through the nice warm water.

Amazon Customer 5.0 out of 5 stars Another reviewer commented that the directions are terrible, but I don’t think they are. It took about 30 minutes to get everything setup and ready to inflate, then another 10 to inflate it. This is a big time saver in that you don’t have to wait for the cold water taken from an outdoor spigot to warm up, especially if you’re chomping at the bit to use your new hot tub. According to the specs, the tub holds 254 gallons at 80% filled. I believe the 80% line is the “min” line. I filled mine from my kitchen sink in approximately 4 hours. I have fairly weak water pressure so others may be able to fill up faster. 3. If you don’t fill the tub using warm water, you will have to wait until the tub reaches the temperature you want. The tub can heat the water approximately 2 deg per hour. So, if you used 50 deg water from your outdoor faucet, and you want the tub at 100 deg, you have to wait 25 hours. 4. WEIGHT: Do NOT put this on your outdoor deck unless it was designed for it. It might not look like it, but a filled hot tub is incredibly heavy. Water weighs about 8.3 lb per gallon, so at 80% fill height this hot tub will weigh about 2110 lb not including the people that get in it. The specs say the “filled weight” is 2701 lb but this probably incorporates four average people and is a useful design number. I measured the current draw when it’s operating.
This took about a day and a half. When we were finally able to get in, we pressed the button for the jets to come on and we were totally mesmerized and i t was actually too hot. Also, when both my husband and I got in, the water rose almost to the top wanting to spill over, so my husband got a bucket and took some of the water out. It’s not ridiculously fast however, just something to keep in mind. I would estimate it cooled off from 104 deg to 100 deg in 15 minutes or so where the outside air temp was about 45 deg. 9. SOUND: It's very quiet when just the circulator pump and heater are running, like a low frequency hum. When the air pump is running it's about as loud an average vacuum cleaner. After reading about them online, I went with Bromine tabs (over Chlorine). And don't forget the pH testers (that also test for a number of other things). Having the right pH, Bromine level, Alkalinity, etc. Some people have said they wash theirs in the dishwasher. I have only rinsed my in the sink so far, but make sure you rinse them often. I’m not a chemist, so correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe the chemicals that are added to the water work to (among other things) bind up oils. Remember, you’re essentially sitting in reusable bath water. The filters look like they get filled with a light brown sludge that must be the stuff its binded up. Keeping the filters clean is essential to keeping the tub clean and having the heat pump work effectively. 12. TIP: make sure you take a shower, and ask your guests to take a shower if possible before they get in your tub. Also, rinse your bathing suit with fresh water before you get in as detergent is usually still in the fabric and will go right in the hot tub. Eventually, you’ll see lots of detergent bubbles on the surface. 13. You don’t need a chair or cushion for the inside. When I was contemplating purchasing it, I wondered how people sat in it since there obviously weren’t built-in chairs like a real hot tub would have. The floor is cushioned enough that it is very comfortable. You CAN buy a cushion to sit on or even for your head, but you don’t NEED it. The water height is about 3’, so a normal size person (I’m 5’ 10”) can sit in it and put their rest their arms over the side. 14. ANNOYING FEATURE: This is the single complaint I have about the hot tub.
I assume this is a “safety” feature, although I don’t know how it makes it safer. Bottomline, you have to always check on it to make sure it’s still running. Otherwise you come home from work wanting to get in your nice warm hot tub and you find its 70 deg because you forgot to reset everything that morning and it shut off while you were at work. Super annoying! If anyone knows a hack for this, please let me know. In summary, the tub works GREAT considering its inflatable and relatively inexpensive. Hope this helps! We really wanted a hot tub but were not willing to spend thousands of dollars on one. This one is very easy to set up, take down, clean, and maintain. Very comfortably fits 4 normal sized adults. Recommend the optional chairs but NOT the optional headrests. We use a waterproof floating light show that takes 3 AA batteries and bought all of our chemicals and testers at a local hardware store. We clean the filters every few days to a week depending upon use, and change them out when they no longer come clean, and change the water out completely about every month and a half. At that time I also wipe out the interior and exterior of everything as well as re-inflate the cover and tub as needed We set ours up in mid May and take it down in Mid October. You also have to remember to reset the GFCI switch every two days since it has an automatic shut off. We let it run non stop and don't use a timer or anything. I even built an enclosure for it!I'm so pleased with it I just don't know where to begin. My husband went to the Coleman website and watched an installation video. We pretty much put it together step by step watching the online video. Yes. we had to set up our laptop outside to put it together but it was totally worth it. All in all, it took about 45 minutes to put together from start to finish including filling it up with water. Once it was filled, we let it sit for the recommended 24hrs for the temperature to reach 104 degrees.

Hot Tub Outpost carries replacement QCA Spas covers of the original type.
I measured the current draw when it’s operating.

All in all, it took about 45 minutes to put together from start to finish including filling it up with water. Once it was filled, we let it sit for the recommended 24hrs for the temperature to reach 104 degrees. I'm so pleased with this purchase I feel it was definitely worth the investment.Use almost daily, was an amazing deal at under 600 when we got itSorry, we failed to record your vote. As mentioned it pulls in cold outside air and pumps it up through the nice warm water.
